SCHOOLS

We offer lessons to children at schools in the Midrand area.  Transport to swimming is not charged for and fees are the same as if you brought your child to us yourself.

Starfish offers 2 options to schools:

SAMMY STARFISH ORIGINAL LESSON PROGRAM

Sammy Starfish is the original more intensive swimming program teaches all the core aquatic skills and once pupils are swimming they go onto learn the competitive strokes.

WILLY WHALE WATER AWARENESS PROGRAM

The Willy Whale Water Awareness program is only offered at certain schools where there are enough pupils doing this.  It is an affordable option that was created so that this essential life skill is available to more children.

Willy Whale teaches the core aquatic skills such as kicking, going under water, jumping in, swimming with floats, learning to float and basic strokes such as doggie paddle and breaststroke. The lessons are shorter than the Sammy Starfish and/or groups are bigger (5-6 kids). Once swimmers are ready to move onto basic stroke work they need to move into the Sammy Starfish program.

The programs are similar in content, however we would advise enrolling your child for the more intensive Sammy Starfish lessons if possible, as children spend more time in the water and progress is quicker.

We have a teacher available to teach at your school during the summer months.  Pools do need to be heated to around 28/29 degrees either via solar, heat pumps or solar blankets. We are happy to assist with this and pool maintenance advice.  A commission is paid to schools for lessons taught on their property.

We are able to put together a program specially tailored to your schools requirements.  Please call us to set up an appointment.

TRANSPORT

Children are transported to and from the pool by Starfish Swim School employees who are in possession of a valid driver’s licence. We make sure that every child is strapped in with a seat belt.
